Tax Season Hiring: Keeping the Bad Apples Out
Hopefully you are taking some time to enjoy your holiday season. No doubt, you are already making some preparations for the busy season ahead.
As you wrap up 2016 and brace yourself for the months to come, you may be looking to hire for the busy season. Sometimes, in their haste, firm owners have been less thorough in their hiring practices in their effort to be sufficiently staffed for tax season. Fortunately, there are resources available to help keep the bad apples out of your otherwise superstar lineup.
AccountingWeb’s Terry Sheridan offers a couple of resources. The first is the Internal Revenue Bulletin, which is fairly laborious to sift through. The second, however, is a searchable Excel file available from the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). These resources can help give you peace of mind about your newly-hired tax professionals as you get ready to sprint into the busy season.
