New General Motors Factory Planned for the U.S.
This article explains that General Motors is investing a load of money into growing its electric vehicle manufacturing capabilities in Michigan. GM had decided to invest the money into four different sites, including “a new battery cell plant in Lansing and the conversion of GM’s assembly plant in Orion for production of the Chevy Silverado EV and the electric GMC Sierra.” The company plans to spend at least $35 billion on electric and autonomous vehicles by 2025. The new plant in Lansing and investments into the other plans will create around 4,000 new jobs. Having a supply of electric batteries is a top priority for GM as they plan to “become a carbon-neutral company by the year 2040.”
